| | I never tried one but there's a lure called the Moss Boss that
sounds like it was made for the place your talking about. It's
basically a weedless top water lure. Then there's the Weed Walker
which resembles a little paddle wheel boat that I've seen take bass
in heavy weeds. Both are in the 87' Bass Pro catalog. See page 159
and 130 for the Moss Boss and Weed Walker respectively.

    P.S.You can always try a 10" weight-less worm worked like a water
    snake too.

| | I've seen the weed-walker, it never ceases to amaze me ...what a
bass will put in its mouth. The worm has been the only thing thats
working at all' but still not for the big bass.

Thanks for the ideas "PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!!!!!!!!"

Another thing that may work is a rubber frog. If it doesn't
wind up being weedless enough you can replace the stock hook/s with
a weed guard type hook. This may work for other top water lures
as well. Who knows, maybe you can invent a whole new lure in the
    process.

I definitely agree with you on the weed walker. It has got to
be one of the strangest lures (including gag lures) I've seen that
    actually works.

| 433.5 | WEEDLESS RAPALA | GENRAL::HUNTER | from SUNNY Colorado, Wayne | Fri Jul 31 1987 10:16 | 11 |
| | How about float tubes? Are they allowed? Bass Pro has one
for $39.95 in their sale catalog. They also have the flippers for
$12.95. I find that on small lakes, they're great. Just don't
get them too far out in the middle of big lakes.
How bout a johnson spoon with a worm or pig trailer? If you
spring the weed guards out some, they are a little bit more weedless.
If the moss is that thick, just drag it across the top and let it
fall into the openings and jig it. Have you tried replacing the
treble hooks on a top water with weedless worm hooks? Did that
to a Rapala and it came through the moss fine for me. (Actually
caught a couple of fish too.)

| | Try a black Johnson Spoon with a #11 pork frog (also black) attached
this will allow you to get on top of the weeds where necessary ,
yet you will be able to fish the drop when you hit an open area
I have had very good luck with this set up , it will be heavy enough
to allow you to make some fair casts from shore . Use the 3/8 oz
    size .
