| | As I recall, Northern Bass Supply had a scale for about $20 that
is supposed to be quite accurate. When I spoke with them last year,
they said the scale was originally designed for use at pharmacies.
The only thing they said was that because the scale is not rust-proof,
you want to be sure it is kept dry to maintain its accuracy. They
claimed it measured to the fraction of an ounce up to 10 or 15 pounds.

| | Don,
Fenwick makes a landing net with a scale built into the handle.
I don't know how accurate these are. They make 3 models that I
know about (20, 50, 100 lbs. capacity). If you really want to get
accurate, buy yourself a set of baby scales. I think these go to
50 lbs. and are much more accurate than the deliars. (I just don't
have room to mount mine on my float tube. ;-) )

| | Joe, your right. I spoke with one of the guys at NBS (it was either
Gary Clark or Barry Hunt) and that scale was designed for pharm. use.
They have it repackaged for their sale. They state that it's very
accurate, and that it's only drawback (as you mentioned) was that it's
not corrosion proof - however if a little care is taken it'll last
just fine. He said that he has had one in his box for a couple of
years, in it's original containor, and it works great.

| | For those of us who don't have $20 to spend on an item that will seldom be
required to be all that accurate. I was at a tackle shop in Milford a month
or so ago and overheard the guy behind the counter telling someone else (I
never evesdrop, but sometimes you just can't help it) that a six pack if pepsi
weighs exactly 5 1/4 lbs. so after you det your Deliar weigh the six pack
and adjust accordingly when you weigh your fish...

| | Our club pick up a new scale this year, its the EQUALIZER, it weighs
in Lbs. and Ozs up to 25 pounds, With the case and cigarette lighter
adapter it cost about $230, I saw them in the BASS'n TIMES and
Northern Bass Supply Catalog. This scale seems to be real accurate
and the manufacturer garuntees it for 2 years. I ve checked it on 8 oz
items and 15 lb items and it is right on. The only thing I recommend
is making a larger base for the baskets. It also has a TARE switch
that does not need to be reset every time and a hold function that
keeps the display on for a few seconds after the basket is removed.
BTW it runs on 6 AA batteries. I highly recommend it if anyone is
looking for a good protable club scale.

| | Our club bought an Equalizer tournament scale also. Ours is the model
that weighs up to 40lbs (being REAL fishermen from NH we needed the
extra poundage 8^) and weighs in lbs and hundreths of pounds. We opted
for the optional hard case as well. Nice stuff.

Tim, this is the scale that we used at the Merrimack -- oh wait a
minute -- that's right too, you were fishing with Holeshot Joe and
never got around to seeing much of the scale!!! 8^)

Les, on ours, the ZERO button zeros the scale. The TARE button allows
you to obtain separate weights when weighing multiple weights - you
weigh one fish - it shows the weight - you hit TARE and it will zero
the scale (with the first fish already in the basket) - you put the
2nd fish in it will weigh just the 2nd fish - you hit TARE again and
it will give you the combined weight of both fish -- this is useful
when weighing multiple fish and your not sure which one is bigger.

| | When the Normark digital scales came out a few years ago I bought one.

It performed well for a number of years but towards the end of last
year the LCDs started going, one segment was out by the end of the
    year.

I mentioned this to the rep at the Normark booth at the worcester expo
and he suggested sending it back to Normark, regardless of how long ago
I bought it. I did. Yesterday I received a new one in mail, one of
the redesigned ones, along with a nice personal note.
