My mother-in-law has an old Evinrude outboard (7 Hp) that she is thinking about selling, but she'd like an idea of what it's worth... It's approx. 30 years old and ran fine, but hasn't been used in about 5 years. Any help would be appreciated..... ~Mike~

Depends on how old it is and the condition.
Just to give you an idea, I researched old motors when I was powering
my 1955 Old Town Rangely Guide Boat. I wound up buying a 1955 6hp Merc
for $25. It appeared to have good compression, turned over normally. It
eventually cost me $150 total to get it running 8^).
What color is it? What does it say on the cowling? If it is green
it is pretty old (`50s maybe). If it is white, it might be `70s.
If it is green and does not include a gas tank, this is a problem.
Johnson had a special tank back then and can be tough to find and
expensive.
If she has no idea how old it is, when the last time it was run, and
has no idea of the overall condition of the motor, it's not worth much.
Someone will have to take a chance on it.
If you could put it in a barrel and start it up, the price goes way up.
$300 maybe.
imho, -donmac
