    Over here i quite often fish for Tope (small, hard fighting sharks)
    from my own boat. The ares that we fish have very strong tides, often
    requiring 3 lbs of lead to keep bottom when the tide is in full flow.
    We found that the best way of keeping bottom and still being able to
    use light tackle was to use a down rigger. So far we have just made do
    with a home made one but I would like to buy one that is more robust.
    It must be able to handle up to 6 lbs of lead ......
    
     .....does such a thing exist in the US. If so where from and how much.
