All this talk about bonito & little tunny has got me going.  I have
been thinking about renting a house on Martha's Vineyard for a week
for the sole purpose of using it as a base of operations for fishing.
I'd like to do it when there is the best chance of little tunny.  My
understanding is that late summer/early fall (mid-Sep to mid-Oct) is
peak.  Is this true?  I'd like to get together with a bunch of other
people and go in on this.  If we got 4 or 5 people, it could be fairly
cheap.  Or, we could have people come for a day or two and leave.  If
we had two cars, and (optionally) a trailerable boat, I think we could
have some serious fishing fun.  I have been there each of the past few
summers.  Once in August and once at the end of July.  July was better
for bluefish, but August had bonito.  The July trip had the first few
bonito caught a day or two before I left.  If I could spend the whole
week there with no other obligations but to fish, I could learn the
patterns and expect to do well after the first few days.

If anyone is interested in this (serious inquiries only, please), send
me mail and maybe we can get together for a beer some night and firm
up some ideas.  It's already too late to get a ferry reservation on a
Saturday, but maybe in September, we can find some place to rent from
Sunday to Sunday or something.

Martha's is also a haven for stripers.  I know a charter capt down
there who guarantees keepers or the trip is free.  The weeks of
9/4, 9/12 & 9/19 all look pretty good.  9/19 is probably the best,
since the bluefin season will be closed up here (probably) by then.

	Mostly I'll be doin familiar territory in/out of the Merrimack R. But I'll be goin down the cape a bit more this spring/summer/fall tryin to find good fishin grouds accessable to the FishTeaser. I normally launch out of Allen Harbour Harwichport area. As my brother-in-law lives in Harwich. If I knew where a good public launch was around the Falmouth area maybe I could "hook" up with any task force that hit's the Vineyard ;-) Keep us posted. -< Tuna Tail >-

	Tim, Sept and Oct is great for Little Tunny. I chase them down in the Watch Hill, R.I. area at that time of year. There have lots of them around the last few years. I am not sure about the Vineyard. Watch Hill is only about a 1 1/2 hour drive from Worcester.... Regards, Greg

	I would consider fishing RI from shore, but I won't ever step on a charter or head boat there again. I was treated very poorly by both on two past occasions. I'm picking MV 'cause I know where the spots are and how to get to them. I'd rather spend my week fishing than hunting down the places to fish. Tim p.s. I thought I would get more response than I have.

	I've spent the last 15 years fishing Falmouth and the Eliz Islands. I'd be interested in a couple of days on Martha. I usually fish stripers at night, any where from Woods Hole out to Cuttyhunk. This is done in a small boat so that we can get in on the rocks. ( Not for the faint of heart if you know what I mean !!! ) Keep me informed on your fall trip and also if you are interested in fishing when ( if ? ) the lilacs bloom for some spring striper action.
