| | WOW! They better outlaw ice chisels too!!! Do you realize how big
    a hole THEY can make???
I'm not giving you a hard time, I just get a little sick of stuff
like this. That same little kid can slide in under the edge of the ice
in the spring or run across the ice and fall into open water too.

Along the same vein... My son fell over backwards while he was
skating last year... Whacked his head a good one... How about a helmet
law for recreational skaters/ice fishermen!!! Oh! And air bags for
    toboggans!!! Mumble... Mumble....

I dropped into the Fair this weekend. They had on display
Jiffy's 8 inch auger. The sales literature with the machine had spare
parts for 5, 7, 8, 9 inch augers. No tens.

| | All I'd like to know is who gets to decide all this crap. It's
obviously someone lacking in grey matter and living in some other
world. Politics really sucks when we the users of the ice, are told to
scrap our (costly) 10" blades because some imaginary baby is going to
wander right over and slide into our fishin' hole. Whatever happened
to the government representing what we the people wanted. Damn, we
don't even get asked for our input when they change all this stuff out
    from under us.
Oh well, enough of this, I've gotta get out there and drill a few
10 inch holes before they bring that dumb regulation up here to the
    Canadian bush.

| | Does this mean that ice chisels and chain saws should be outlawed since
they can make much bigger holes than 10"? :-)/2

    :^)))))))))))))))))))

A cousin'n I were talking the other day about ice fishing and how
our Dads used to use an axe (1940s) to cut a hole. Would start out
with about a 15" hole on top and end up with a 4" where you broke
    thru..

Besides, who ever catches fish thru the ice where a 10" hole is
needed anyway? Or izzat to fit your net in??!!!! Ha ha ha!

I have the 9" on my jiffy. Love it, except when I forget my
creapers. The auger stops and I go 'round'n round. :^)
Actually when it's that slimy on top I chew two spots to step
    in with the blade first.

And for all those "BIG" ones I get thru the ice, (shhhh - don't
let this out now.) A 3" auger would suffice.... :^)

Now it's time for some real braggin'. I'll be a coffee'n danish
that I hauled a live critter thru the ice nuna you guys ever did!
    A CRAWFISH!
Was jiggin for perch and decided to have a coffee. Sat the little
swedish pimple with a perch eye onnit on the bottom. After break I
hauled it up and there he was, holding onto the line with one
pincer and with the other was holding the hook with the eye to
his mouth. Even got a picture of it!

| | That also means people on the ice will be outlawed. If they fall thru
the ice, it will make a hole large enough for infants to fall thru.
