My wife and I want to spend a few days towards the end of August
renting a cabin or very nice room on a New Hampshire, Vermont, or
Maine lake. I want to do some canoe fishing, she wants something
not-too-rustic, very swimmable beach and/or pool, maybe some amenities like nice nearby restaurants,
on-site whirpool, good shopping, that sort of thing. I guess we want a
small resort. Probably not an individual privately-owned house.
We would like to be around the Lakes Region of NH --which we know from many
years of camping--- and so that's pretty much our first choice. In
fact, the Wolfeboro area would probably be ideal. Would like to be
within three-four hours of Marlboro in any case. I'm primarily
interested in bass fishing.
Any ideas? Thanks.

RE: .0
It's more north than you asked for but... Last year my wife
decided she couldn't put up with another old cottage so she booked a
Condo on Moose Pond in Bridgeton, ME. I'm not really the condo type
but this place was great! Two buildings of 5 condos each, pool, small
beach with a float, dock for your boat, garage, jacuzzi, deck, tennis
court, etc. Real low key, very few people around. Sloping lot with
big birch and pine trees. Really nice!! About 1/2 hour from North
Conway if you want shopping and ~1 hour from the Maine coast.
The lake has all kinds of structure from deep rocky drop-offs to
shallow stump filled bays. Lots of Smallies and I think it is also the
lake that produced the Maine state record Largemouth.
If you want any more info let me know and I'll dig up a phone
number for you.

ME. on Moose Pond in Cumberland County. Weight = 11 lbs. 10 oz.
Caught on a Pfleuger Shiner.
