Has anybody done any fishing (Ocean) in South Carolina? I am heading
down the last week of April. Does anyone have any input on Charter
information? We will be staying in Myrtle Beach area.
I really need something to do between tee times!
Thanks,
Wildman

I'm heading down myself to Hilton Head and Kiawah Island. I saw some marinas where you can get a boat for $70 for a half day. Appreciate any info on fishing tactics for that time of year. I'll be fishing from boat and surf. Thanks, =Paul= | |||||

Hi, I am in GSO which is located in Greenville, SC. It is not hard to
locate fishing charters. Any motel or hotel can help you. Also you
can write or call the Chamber in Myrtle Beach, SC and they can send
you information. They will supply you with all the tackle and bait
and some boats have food. Most, if not all of the charters will give
you back your money if you do not catch anything. So it is worth
the time.

| 144.3 | Santee-Cooper (Lakes Marion/Moultrie) | AUNTB::HYMES | I'd rather be fishing | Wed Jun 03 1992 12:52 | 20 |
In terms of fresh water fishing, I've fished Santee-Cooper twice
(Lakes Marion and Moultrie) in the last year. First trip (Nov '91)
yielded a few 3+ lb largemouth. Also caught some smaller fish.
Threw spinnerbaits and floating worms. Fished with a guide.
Fished it again in March '92. I got skunked (boy that's hard to say),
but folks in my party (there were 4 of us) caught a few fish.
Highlights were a 3-4' gar, and a 9 lb largemouth. Spinnerbaits
and artificial lizards did the trick.
Lake Marion (upper lake) is well known for its excellent fishing.
It has plenty of standing timber and is relatively shallow (usually
< 10').
Good fishing for largemouth bass, stripers, catfish, and crappie.
Can provide info on where to stay, guides, etc if needed.
Good fishing,
Pat
