| 34.1 | The canal has some fish. | GNPIKE::NICOLAZZO | Free the beaches! | Wed Aug 07 1991 14:20 | 11 |

    	I was down there last weekend fishing the east end of the canal
    	(probably out of your way if your thinking about Monomoy and
    	Wellfleet) - there were lots of school stripers around early in
     	the morning and I heard reports of a few bluefish being taken.

    	I don't know much about the mid/outer cape though.

| 34.2 | Eastham report | LEVERS::SWEET |  | Wed Aug 07 1991 22:49 | 7 |
| | I was down in Eastham last week. I caught 2-4 blues from the
    bay side beaches. They periodically blitz the shore in late afternoon
    especially on the outgoing tide. Pamet river mouth in truro
    was also supposed to be good for these. Bass are mostly on
    the ocean side with eels at night.

| | thanks for the reports. I am going to try to find some blues somewhere
    between Barnstable Harbor and Welfleet Harbor. Hopefully I'll run into
    at least a couple.

    	Race Point, served up 16 blue, on the slack of the out going
    	AM tide just to the left of the life guard stand. There's a
    	sand bar out about 250 yds the funnels the baitfish, thus the
    	Blues in within casting range.

    	They were between 8-13lbs, and around the end of July...

    	Todays report was HOT fishing on the bayside, south Truro and
    	Wellfleet area. Big blues averaging around 15lbs...

    	Sounds like some minor adjustments to be made in this labor-day
    	weekend plans!

    I'm heading for the Cape (Hyannis) in about an hour... Have a charter
    lined up for Wednesday on south side, but will be hitting every spot
    where there's even the most remote chance of hooking up from shore.

    Wish me luck!

| 34.6 | It may be a small world, but the ocean seems big | USCTR1::SPERRY |  | Wed Aug 05 1992 11:03 | 17 |
|  |     Any tips on;

        o where to fish for cod, haddock, pollock this time of year?
           anyplace accessible within 20 - 30 miles from shore.
           ( I trailer from NH to RI )

        o fishing off of Provincetown. I haven't been there but the
           contour lines from the charts look pretty interesting. What
           do you find where?

        o books that talk about the fishing seasons and sites off the
           Massachusetts coast

    The kids and I are getting into fishing this year and I think that
    actually catching some fish might make the experience even better!
