                Have you  checked  how  much  a  new  case will cost.  My
        experience is that  engine parts are usually extremely reasonably
        priced.
        
                If you need it,  I'll  pull  the  head  on my .40 and see
        where the arrow points.

Don't worry about the arrow, you have many ways to see which way the piston 
fits.
	1. It the rod has not been removed from the piston the bezel on one 
	   side of the big end goes towards the crank.

	2. The side of the exhaust port is always the hottest and the piston is 
	   blackened or stained more than the Transfer port side.
	3. There is a cutout in the piston for the transfer port. Often if the 
	   piston is the wrong way the exhaust port exposes the bottom of the 
	   cutout. This will cause

    	In my .40 FSRs, the arrow does point to the exhaust ports.
