| | Meanwhile, the nonmigratory flocks are fouling local ponds to the
extent that beaches are being closed to swimming. So I guess there's no
relief in sight. Bogus. They should have (at least) allowed NH to have
a season before or after the body of the migration to cull our own,
    non-migratory flocks.

| | Hi,
Does NH Fish and Game accept suggestions from citizens to open
hearings on matters like these? Maybe a number of concerned sportsmen
can influence a decision for a special purpose season for the good of
    all people in the state.

Does anyone have any experience with these matters?

| | In regards to.3
I live in ottawa,we have a major problem in the Cornwall area with
resident geese, what the MInistry of Natural Resources has done up here
is to offer an early season 3weeks before opening day. This allows you
to cull resident birds before the big flocks come down. They have also
opened at late goose season for two weeks three weeks after the regular
season closes. If tou know were to go you get some great action and help
    cull some of the problem.

I believe that what Mass is currently doing for their resident flock
and I think the bag limit is 5 per day.

| | Although, I only have experience with the "open" meetings with Vermont
Fish and Game at the migratory waterfowl meetings, generally they do
listen and sometimes can be influenced with the timing of the seasons,
however, when you start talking about the species hunted there is
another probelem you run into and that is the Feds. as they have a
major influence on what goes on. By the way, Vermont closed the Canada
goose season as well. From what I've heard, New York and Maine also
closed their season also. I have a copy of N.H. Reg.s if anyone is
interested in a copy. I have them send one every year.
One thing that I'm not keen on is the closed season on blacks from
Oct. 4 - Oct. 8 not from the fact that I can't shoot black ducks but
from the fact that a large number of duck hunters may not be able to
identify the difference between a black duck and a hen mallard.
It is nice to see a 50 day 5 bird limit again though. Both N.H. and
    Vermont have it this year.

| | re:blacks

As I mentioned in another note, this will be a waste. I jumped
ducks opening day and opening weekend that were most definately blacks.
They flew into an area of other hunters that just blasted away. I also
heard a case were 4 and 5 shots came from the same gun (not plugged).

If the F+G were in the area they probably had a field day. First
thing Saturday we had 4 ducks land in the decoys, all blacks. They sat
there for some time before they flew off. We saw them go down in
another area and, you guessed it, they got blasted at.
