| | My 7 month old son got a Red Rider BB Gun from my hunting partner.

Actually, my best present was the Nor'Easter that blew in through New
England Christmas Eve day. I was out at the Hampton Flats at 5:30 AM
Saturday morning and the wind was unbelievable. Facing the wind was
impossible. Anyway, with the low tide, jump shooting was a cinch.
Sneak up to the stream, blacks go up, attempt to fly into the wind and
are suspended in mid-air with no forward movement. Bang! Season over.

Even I can hit 'em when they're "standing still". :^)

| | My wife, tired of having me sniffing up her baking called an old friend
of mine and sold me out at a duck dog. Al never brings his waders.
Anyway we went up into the Owen's Valley to Stinky Socks (a Very smelly
hot springs) for some duck hunting. We had a terrible time, shooting
one Pintail duck each and watching hundreds of em fly by. So we decided
to go out on the Owens river in a canoe, this was much better than
smelling those old stinky socks. The score for the three days before
christmas 6 honkers, 3 snows, 3 mallards, 3 teal and 2 pintails. Al
will remember his waders next time as he fell in and was cold for a
    while toooo bad "woof"
The wife and kids gave me stuf for my den. Four Duck Stamps in little
holders two Salmon flies to put on the wall, a game cookbook, two pairs
of BDU's, a hunting fanny pack, and a couple of pounds of jerky.

Not much received in the way of outdoor equipment as my wife
finds it very hard to buy for me. I'm the type that when I want to
buy something I do. But I did get a 1 year subscription to the "new"
New Hampshire Hunting & Fishing newspaper from my neice, and my
Remington 11/87 Fully Rifled Shotgun came in just in time for Christmas
as it's been on back order for over 3 months. The biggest surprise was
the grain in the wood when I opened the box. Normally due to the design
purpose, the gun comes with very plain wood but this one has figure
found on a trap gun so I was extremely happy to say the least. Christmas
Day I mounted my Leupold 2x7 on it and she's ready to be sighted in at
    the range.

I got some hunting clothes but that's about it as far as outdoorsy
type stuff. No I didn't get my Buckmark but have no fear I didn't
kill rudolph. Thought about it though. Lucky for him Santa left me some
$$$ to put towards it so I'll be getting it soon.

of hunting boots. My 5 year old son bought me a double bladed
spinnerbait and my mother-in-law gave me cash and 2 pairs of hunting
socks. Now I can't decide on what to buy, turkey stuff, deer stuff,
    fishing.......

| 1426.7 | An Experience | 30029::MERCIER |  | Thu Dec 29 1994 10:09 | 32 |
| | Well, I got an experience for Christmas. My sister moved to Alpharetta,
Georgia about four years ago and for Christmas she picked up my airfare
to the South. What a trip it is to be out out of the People's Republic
of Massachusetts.........The day after Christmas my Brother in law took
me and my father gun shopping. There was a big red tag sale advertised
in the news paper at a store in Roswell (can't remember the name) the
prices were unbelievable. The store was packed and the selection was
    anything from a 12 gauge street sweeper to a Marlin .22. I thought I
died and went to Heaven. I asked the salesman how come it was so crowded
while my b-i-law was purchasing a new 9mm. He said that he hadn't seen
it like that since the Brady Bill. Before that day he had the best
sales record for one day which was five guns. The first hour of the day
we were there he already sold 6.

That night we went to an indoor shooting range which was right next to
the mall. You never see anything like that up here. It was like going
to a bowling alley. Except you get to shoot. The next day we were off
to a place called the Mountain Barn which had the best prices yet! I
had the pleasure of watching my father buy a new Browning, 7mm mag. Top-
ped with a 2.5 to 10 scope with a 50 mm lens (can you say. I don't know
what to do with my money? I can't!!!)

My only purchase was a box of Black Talon's in 30-06. I didn't even
know they made them for rifles!!! I think I just bought them for the
novelty of it. There 180 grns. and I don't think they would actually have
time to expand on a smaller deer.

That's it for me. What a ball. Know I now why Bob Harris was always
touting the sporting life down there. I got to get down there for a
    Turkey Hunt.
