| | You said the right thing, "Have you TOLD wifey-poo yet?" Yes, I did
tell wifey-poo. Seems EVERY vacation I have taken year to date has
been to see the inlaws. So I told her that I need some BOB time, and
it is going to be around hunting.

Of course, the nice guy that I am, I told her when I am gone, she can
go shopping. Just pay cash, no credit cards.

I am still in the first year of marriage, so we are in the phase of
"how long the leash is" mode. I keep pulling for more leash, and she
keeps giving. Same goes for her. It seems to be a real good marriage.
Back to hunting though, it's that male bonding thing.

12th I believe and Bear starts the same as it has in the past, Sept.
1st. Although if Bow season starts onb Sept. 19th I'll be getting
married that day and there goes one of my opening days this year. But
    it will be worth it.

| | I laugh at your note. Read note 933. I was once in your shoes young
man. Take all the ribbing. I will think about you as I am on my stand
    opening morning of the 19th.

you say ,"but it will be worth it." Will it? Does your future wife
know about you and hunting? My wife is now trying the sobbing act of
,"Oh honey, please don't leave me for the weekend and kill bambi."

I tell her, "You knew I was a hunter before we got married, so don't
try and change this on me now, it won't work."

    best of luck

| | So far she doesn't have a problem with it, Bob. Everyone says wait
awhile and she will change. I hope not. I don't think she will either.
Only time will tell I guess. I know I lived a woman for awhile before
and she once gave me an ultimatum, her or hunting. I went hunting and
didn't see her anymore. This seems just the opposite. As a matter of
fact I almost have her talked into getting her hunting license. She
says she doesn't think she could kill something, except birds. I don't
know what the difference would be. But I know we are both happy. I'll
get my hunting time in. One way or another.

telling me I had better fill the freezer. Good Luck on opening morning.
By the way whats the weather like down there about that time? I usually
don't hunt that part of bow season up here because it gets too hot and
all the flies drive me out of the woods anyways by 7:00am. I usually
wait until the beginning of October. And it was my choice to be married
on that date. But I never sauid I was smart.

    Bret,

They don't all change, I married someone who never hunted, didn't like
guns. But she knew what hunting meant to me. She has never balked
when I went away for weekends for the "family" type hunts wiht
father, uncle's cousins etc. And never gives me any trouble for bird
hunting. Actually she wants to take the hunter safety course and go
duck/bird hunting with me. She doesn't know if she can be quick
enough to shoot a bird (she was quite impressed with the speed of
    a partridge flush last fall).

She has gone from someone who asked that I not clean the gun in the
same room to someone who wants to hunt and has been taught to shoot.
She even bought me a gun for my birthday/anniversayr last year.
That helped alot since she did all the shopping for it with a friend
of mine. She learned that a gun is a machine and she was taught how
it works. When she gave it to me she put it together for me (its
a pump shotgun), I was shocked to say the least.

    Good luck on the marrige.

Instead of hearing," Honey, what do you think of the new drapes? or

    We need new carpeting."

It's like a weekend pass to go hunting. Not mocking my wife in any

wants. A drape is a drape, furniture is furniture, flowers are

God knows we don't sit in the same tree stand or anything, we go our
seperate ways in the woods, unless I'm asking him to teach me something
new. (He introduced me to this rather addictive sport)

A good example is that I don't turkey hunt, he does, so I'm glad to see
him go with his buddies during that season for a weekend or so (having
    the whole house to myself)

But during Whitetail season, (bow and firearm) he gets to go before and
after work and I don't, I only get to go on weekends or the days I take
off to hunt. So he does have time to enjoy the sport without me.

Story of my life - too little and too late :-)
> Christine (who is tired of reading the hunting mags devote everything
> to the needs of men!)
	Rathole alert!
We need more women hunters IMHO! Not because we need more
hunters in the field - there are just the few we could do
without :-(, but because if more women got involved in the
sport it would help convince all the other gals that hunting
is a very healthy, environmentally sound, educational and
in general FUN sport. Women votes will count for a lot, as
we face increasing pressure from the anti hunting activists!
Besides, women are probably not too proud to admit they need
education (as in hunters safety ed. ) and are likely to be
more careful in the field (I know of few guys who could do
*a lot* better in that respect).
If more women hunted, maybe they could gang up -
either alone or with their male appendices... After all,
hunting is very much a social sport and women do enjoy to
gossip about other things than guys - fact of life!
So, we need more like you Christine! Both on the basic level,
as well as "role models" - Kathy Etling springs to mind here.
	Rathole terminator.

| | EH GADZ!!!!!! Earl just pointed out to me that the "Bonus week" of
hunting in the Northern zone of Georgia does not end on January 3, it
    ends on January 1.

That means that the either sex bonus week will commence on December 26
(half hour before sun up) and end on January 1, (half hour after
    sundown).

Well you know where I will be. Read this Red!!!! Realize that you
will actually have a weekend at home, unless your like Earl and can
hunt the southern zone, which ends on January 10, half hour after
    sundown.
