| | I count down the days to fire arm season in Georgia, 26 to be exact.
And what do I do? I watch deer hunting videos, blow my grunt, wash
hunting clothes, schedule time off of work, sight in the rifle, pray
for colder weather, line up all hunting equipment, but the best part is
the weekend coming up. Going to deer camp and straightening everything
out, beefing up tree stands, and scouting.

during the NH archery season. Which I did last night.

    re .4

this year will be a real 'hunting challenge', that's how I may spend the
whole season, helping others drag their deer out of the woods.

I'm actually tryinig to keep my mind off of it, like the kid who goes
to sleep the night before Christmas, so it'll get here sooner. I'm
trying to catch up on all the things I didn't do this summer around the
house. Some how I always end up pulling out the hunting gear and
checking it all over, day dreaming out the window looking in the woods,
then repacking the gear, pull the rifle out make sure the bore is
clean. Making sure there's enough breakfree in the bore to reduce
bullet drag, enough grease on the action (.444 Marlin) in case a second
or third shot is required should a herd situation develop. I've
polished by buckskin boots. Have yet to put the gun rack up in the
pickup yet, that'll get done tonight hopefully, yea need time to test
out the gun rack before the season gets here. well if you see a white
D-50 Ram with a white shell, totin a single shot rife in a gun rack,
    wave it'll be me.

Well time to go over my check list once more. Beside the basics,
Rifle, ammo, license, clothes, orange vest, porta-john (for those who
are particular), beef jerky and a Bowie Knife what else would a hunter
need? Maybe what we need is a hunting check list? This type of list
would be relative to geographic location, so please put in the general
part of the U.S. that you'll be huning in. Now for the folks in
California, don't rub in by saying 'sun tan lotion.

Opps, time to go home and practice hunting.

    Cheers
    Leonard

learning your area, along with proper use of the above, can
use up 'waiting time', and maybe show you a few easier ways
to drag your deer out :-)

    Hi Sid,

    Welcome.

Cane Tip, the rubber piece that fits over the end of a cane or crutch.
About the size of a twenty gague shotgun, if its streched properly it
fit over the end of my .444 Marlin. There are other rubber products on
the market but none will hold up to the poking like the cane/crutch
    tip.

    Cheers

| | Here's the problem. In exactly 11 days I leave for NY in an attempt
to shishkabob Bambi. As most of you can relate, time is going by very
slowly. I've sharpened a couple of knifes and snow sealed the boots.
I re-camoed the Loggy and have the bow tuned. The gear is all set. So
now I have a little over a week to sit and wait, and wait, and wait.
So you ask, Whats the problem? Well in tyring to make time fly I've
been busy building a couple of goose blinds in my two favorite fields.
Goose season opens on the 16th, the day after NY archery season. This
would not normally present a problem except that yesteday when I went
to check on the field, there were already geese in it! Whats a guy to
do? I can't go to NY for a week and hunt geese at the same time.
Seems the only solution is to bag a deer on Monday and drive home that
night so I can hunt the opener on Tuesday in MA. Any ohte suggestions
    out there?

    Jeff
