| | If you want a club that has national competitions then check out the
Leominster Rod & Gun club. Their members compete in national
tournaments.. In fact one of their members won the national pistol
championship years ago, and was the first to do so with the
type of pistol he was shooting, I believe it was a revolver. His
name is, Babe Magnum. (no joking that's what he goes by).
Also, they have a stocked trout pond, two skeet & trap ranges with
trap shooting every Tuesday night and trap & skeet every Sunday morning.
A rifle range, archery range and indoor pistol range. They stock their club
grounds, which extend into the Leominster State Forest, with pheasants
    and rabbits.
They also have a dog training club in which you can get a key to the
quail coupe so you can use live birds to train your dogs.
Their meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month. I think their
dues is only $35 per year.

leominster sportsman club at camp bartlett.

dues first year $35.00 (25.00 dues + 10.00 application fee)

if you dont mind 1/2 ride to leominster,

the trout pond is plenty big, many of the anglers put in
    boats,canoes...

our trap and skeet ranges are lighted,
the club has about 800 acres of land which like the previous reply
stated abuts the state forest, so you get that much more land to hunt
    on also.

they have indoor and outdoor archery activities.
    indoor pistol range.
outdoor rifle range.. (last time i went to a meeting talk was to
increase the range to 200 yrds)(hav'nt been there all summer)

they quite often have the ducks unlimited trap and skeet shooting
    events.

you get alot of bang for the buck.

    	Erik,

I belong to Riverside Rod and Gun. Check out the FIREARMS file
to read my feelings on it.

They do have a nice outdoor rifle/pistol range(25,50,and100???)
    	Trap and skeet.

The indoor range(25 yrd I beleive) is o.k-but I'v only been there
as an observer. I can give you the name of a Decie who is heavily
involved in the Pistol "Plate" shoots every other Thursday. I'm
sure he would be more than happy to take you down sometime.

    	Trout pond.

    	Nice big bar too!

You might check out Clinton and Harvard. They aren't quite as easy
to get too, but offer much the same in the way of shooting
    	facilities

    	Chuck

BTW wherabouts in Hudson do you live??

| | There is also Marlboro Fish and Game on Elm St. Cost $50.00 initial
    and $50.00 per year.
Also Northboro Fish and Game on Soloman Pond Road in Northboro same price
    as Marlboro.
Both have indoor pistol range and outdoor rifle range. Both also have
a 28 target archery range, (but they are both run down).
They both also have skeet ranges and Marlboro's is lit and I see and
hear them shot all the time.
Both also have small stocked fishing ponds.

I hope this helps and good shooting. Hunting season coming fast!!
    But not fast enough !!!

| 752.7 | What's "Bona Fide" ?? | FSHQA2::EPETERSEN |  | Tue Sep 18 1990 13:00 | 13 |
| | Thanks for the replies, I'm probably going to check out the
Riverside club - mostly for its convenience (1-2 miles from
home). I'm mostly looking to join a club to meet the requirement
    to get my pistol permit.

    thanks again,

    Erik

PS- Does anyone know offhand if "belonging to a Bona Fide Sportsman
Club" is actually a "real" requirement for a handgun permit?

I may ask this in a seperate (new) note.

| | re .7 No it's not. If you're turned down because you're not
a member of a club you could win on appeal. Just another
    chicken-byproduct from your COP.

| | Thanks,

Then I'll proceed a little quicker, coming up with $100 + right
now isn't too easy. If it does cause feedback then I'll post a little
    note in here about it.

    Erik
