I was given a deer call this past hunting season, actually a
Bleat-Call. I was told that if I jumped a deer to try and blow this
thing 3 times softly of which the deer might come back to you.

Well, being from the old North-Woods School i kinda laughed, but being
open minded i brought it along with me on a hunt. Well to my amazement
i had jumped a deer one morning on the way to my stand, so I blew this
thing as i was told. Low an behold.. the deer came back to me, circled
me went upwind to try and sniff me out, Well I'll be a suck-a** mule!!
It worked. I did see the deer, but it was just getting light and i
did'nt want to take a chance at poor placement of shot so I let it go.
You had to be there, a silhouette.
Anyway. three days later i did drop a nice spike-horn.

My question to you all is, Whats the best brand name,(money no object)
call I should consider buying in a GRUNT CALL ?

Who uses Deer Calls in the Northeast and what do you use? Any Success.

    Thanks,
Rick (Who, is still skeptical of all this stuff in N.H. and Maine!!)

I found that the Bleet Call works best.... The Grunt call
works during the rut the best... I had a deer last year on
one side of some sapling bleeting it's butt off... Dammed if i could
see em..... The grunt is different by far.... I've grunted at does
and they just keep going... I haven't had the chance to grunt a
buck cause i'll shoot it before i'll blow my chance at getting it..

Stick with the Bleet.... If ya jump one, Stopmp
your feet, It "Does" work on occasion...

You said you couldn't grunt at any bucks because your too busy
    shooting.

You forgot to add "and missing."

    Later, bro..

| I saw something in K-mart the other day called "come here, deer" or something stupid like that. They said it wasn't a distress bleat or grunt, but a social call that deer used. There was a guy using it and he drew some does across a field from what looked to be about 500 yards away. They didn't waste any time getting over to where the guy was, either. The problems I had were 1) the only thing that seemed to be attracted to it were does and 2) How do you know that there wasn't some other attractor there. I didn't look at the price, but judging from the "high" quality of the video (it looks like it was filmed by an epileptic drug addict with actors from the X-rated actors guild), I'd say it was pretty cheap. It might be worth a $ or two just to try at the end of the season.... Just my 2 worth, Scott | |||||
