| | Alan,

The last hides that I had done went to:

    		Fortman's Taxidermy
    		RR1, Box 213
    		St. Mary's, OH., 45885

Sorry, I don't have the phone number.
What I did was save the hides in the freezer. Then when I had three
I sent them all out at one time. I arranged for UPS to come to my
house and pick them up. I put them in a couple of plastic bags and
sealed them up pretty good in case they started to smell on the way
out and then put them in a good cardboard box. I didn't have any special
reason for waiting for three other than trying to save a little on
shipping. I usually salt them before I put them in the freezer. I had them
done with the fur off. I was a little surprized at how much they shrunk.
I don't know if it was the process they were using of if that's normal.
Maybe someone else could comment on that. They did come out nice and soft
and pliable though. They come out almost white, so you could dye them any
    color you wanted to.

    Hope this helps,
    Good Hunting,
    John

My Uncle had a 125lb buck hide tanned, cose was about $30.

He had it done in Connecticut someplace, I will try and get the
    address.

He has also had some sheep, racoons and red fox done there.

| | You got my curiosity up, it's been a couple of years since I sent mine,
so I called information for Fortman's (re: .1) and got their prices.

    	Hair on $36.95
    	Hair off $19.95
    	Fleshing $ 5.00 (if necessary)

The way they work it is: You send them the hides with a $10.00 deposit
per hide and when the work is done they bill you for the balance. When
they get the balance they ship the hides.

Oh, their phone number is 419-394-4188.

    John
