In the interest of improving my scattergun skills for hunting (there,
that justifies putting this in the Hunting notesfile!) I'm trying
to find a place where I can take skeet lessons. The clubs I've
gone to in my area all require membership to take lessons. I'm
not interested in spending the time or dollars to be a member of
a club just to take skeet lessons.

Do you know of any clubs in the southeastern Mass. area that have
skeet lessons for non-members??? Your help is greatly appreciated.

    	Hi Tim,

At the risk of sounding elitist (?), Skeet LESSONS are
expensive. Organized lessons, (Videos, Instructors time
    	range time, etc) are costly.

HOWEVER, if you are interested in simply PRACTICING skeet
and picking up some pointers from a few of the people at the
range, MOST clubs will have "open" shooting. A Non-Member
may get charged more $$ per round, however it usually isn't
too much. At our club, Non-Members can shoot from 1 pm til
5 pm every sunday for $3.50 per round. (25 clays)

This is probably the best way to pick up some pointers from
    	a bunch of people.

Scheduled lessons and clinics in your area are usually
announced in SKEET: Shooting Review, a monthly publication
of the National Skeet Shooting Association (800-531-7928)
Give them a call if lessons or weekend clinics are your bag.
They are expensive however. Kay Ohye runs one out of
Brunswick New Jersey that is about $300 per day.

If yu are ever up on the North Shore, give me a call and I'll
be happy to take you out to our club, Haverhill Hound Rod
and Gun Club. Its a nice place, friendly people, not too
much competition(-;) and no antis for miles.......Good luck

I usually run a skeet class in the spring of the
year. WE do this to introduce new people to the game and
to get them interested and up to speed so that they can
    join our summer league.

Now I am not a qualified instuctor however I know enough
about the bassics to teach them and give you a foundation.

Since I to am a student it more like an advanced student helping
    or tutoring a beginer.

Actually I didn't do much of the teaching anyway because
I need a substitute because my sons baseball games kept getting
    scheduled on the same night.

We had about 5 to 7 students all of which were beginners
We started for about 4 weeks getting them use to the different stations
and starting from the easier ones moving out to some of the more
difficult ones as the student progresses.

After classes we ran Videos at the club house. so there is a lot
of actuall shooting, audio visial ( sp ) and good discussion.

    We also cover reloading.

Now about our students 4 of them shot the league and two had
    25 straights in 3-4 months.

We are located In Merrimack N.H. Horseshoe Fish and Game Club

You do not have to be a member. As a mater of fact we encourage
non members to join in and later if you so desire we enjoy having
    them join the club.

    Bear.
