| | All your specs are in the ball park. You may want to extend them
though. I just bought a 14' DEEP V which is 2x as deep as a regular
v-bottom, also you may want to go up a in HP on the outboard just
in case it starts to get rough in either area. I have found a lot
of the mentioned packages running 12' to 14', trailers, and outboards
ranging from 4HP to 25HP, for the price of $900 to $2,200. It all
depends on your use and what you can spend.

| | I'll go for the 14' over the 12'. You better check the total weight
that a twelve footer can hold before buying, many only recomend a
500lbs capacity limit. When you add up the two people dog, ammo,
guns and other things it doesn't take much to swamp the boat, it can
    really ruin your day.

| 168.5 | anything closer? | CLUSTA::STORM |  | Wed Jun 22 1988 10:30 | 11 |
| | That sounds like a pretty good rig, but I was hopeing that I could
    find something a little closer.

I'm also still not sure I want something as big as a 14 ft deep
    V. While that would be great for Great Bay and Parker River, I'm
afraid it might be too difficult to maneuver in smaller and
    shallower places closer to home.

    Thanks,
    Mark

| | Well, you guys talked me into a 14 footer. I found a boat and
trailer this weekend. It had a 6 hp with it, but I'm afraid that
wouldn't be enough power for Great bay and Parker River. Let me
know if you think 6 would be enough since the motor is still
available. Otherwise, I'm shopping for a 10 or 15 hp.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Mark,

I had a 14 foot Jon boat with a 6 horse Evinrude (two cylinders).
It wasn't fast, but it had a lot of power. I'm not familiar with
the area you want to hunt, so I can't say it will stand up to the
current there. However, I wouldn't rule it out.

    Can you test it?

    How much is the motor?

If it's an Evinrude, anything under $300 is a deal.

    Just my opinion.

    Brett.

| 168.8 | Anybody hunt Great Bay and Parker River? | CLUSTA::STORM |  | Tue Jul 12 1988 14:11 | 9 |
| | It's a Chrysler for $300. It looked like it had been used very
little (which didn't suprise me given the age of the guy selling
it). I also don't know any boat dealers nearby that deal in
Chrysler's. That plus the small hp made me think twice about it.
(the boat is rated up to 25 hp).

    Thanks,
    Mark
