Now that a good portion of the hunting season is past, how about
a note on how you guys & gals keep your dogs in shape during the
off season. I know that "the boys" tend to look at hunting season
as a big party around my house. Both dogs live and breath for
the day when they see me grab the whistles and the gun. Now that
everything is closed except for geese, it's back to work so to speak.
Since Skeet runs trials in the spring and summer, I _try_ to keep
him "on" all year long. Easier said the done! How about some tips
for keeping your dog sharp all year 'round. Is anyone else out
there interested in trials, whether they be traditional AKC or the
newer hunting trials? Personally I like both, but if I had to pick
I would definitely stick with the hunting trials. Anyone out there
run NAHRA trials? Anyone interested in an early spring "fun trial",
where we could all get together and run the dogs? Lets hear from
those of you who work your dogs off season as well.

Up here in N.H. I still have a couple more weeks to miss grouse....
Since I'm new to this I don't have much to offer, but would also
be interested in hearing what the rest of you are doing with the
dogs during the off season. First, I think I will go back to work
to make up for all those late midweek mornings when I was out hunting;
or at least do enough so I keep getting paid here...at least until
next season!
I would be interested in hearing about any NAHRA trails in the general
area. Especially, any that occur in the early spring during that
short window between deep snow and fishing season!
