A friend has just bought a large motor cruiser (an ANGEL 56' to be
precise.) He is looking at updating some of the satnav/gps/radar etc...
and has asked me to help. He is also a basic computer buff, and will
have a MAcintosh on board. It came to mind that we might be able to get
the Mac to listen to and/or command the nav gear which all claims to
talk to each other via a NMEA 0183 protocol. Does any one have, or know
where I could get specs on this protocol?

I saw a product like this at the boat show. I will try to remember to
bring in the litature tomorrow. Price for a PC version was $500.
