I have an 85 Merc 18 HP that is set up for tiller drive and
I have it in a boat that has a steering wheel and cables for
forward drive. I would like to know if anyone has a kit that
would allow me to do the conversion or any suggestions that I
may need. Anyone have an old bunch of parts that could do the job?

It's one of these deals where I got the boat cheap from someone
who moved and when he bought the motor, he didn't get the hookups
for the forward steering or throttle.

    Thanks.

    Steve

| You should be able to order the parts from Merc. through a merc dealer.
Shouldn't be a big project to install. Let us know how you make out.

Check Bliss/E&B, Overton's, Goldberg marine, etc catalogs- they have
    steering and throttle/shift controls.

Also check the dealer for used stuff, although I would tend to go for
    new cables.

I may have a Merc throttle shift(2 lever) assembly in my box of junk-
I'll check tonite and let you know

On a small engine like that, I would go for the cable/drum type
    steering.I's also cheaper
