Having just returned from a week at Lake George...
Launching the boat
Several Marinas and some public launch sites. Unfortunately, the
public sites were too far away for me. (Lake George is 33 miles long).
I went to Norwal Marina in Bolton Landing. They have two launch ramps
and several people who control the lines (and people). They were
very professional.
Price for a 'round trip launch' pass is $11.00
Lake George User Permit
$5.00 for a day, or $7.50 for the week, or $20.00 for the year.
This pays for the Lake George Park police, the navigation buoys
maintenance, etc.
Other
Lake George is to New York, New Jersey-ites like Lake Wini or the Cape
is to New Hampshire or Mass-ites.
Lake George is a four hour trip (Pulling a trailer) from the
Worcester area. It is 33 miles long. Lake George Village is located
on the southern end of the lake. It is the usual tourist spot with
hundreds of motels, hotels, cabins, historic areas, stores, and
restaurants. Also miniature golf, 'Great Adventure' amusement park.
It is more family oriented (and three steps up from a 'Hampton Beach').
There is also an outlet section with the same outlets located in
southern Maine.
As one travels north along the lake, the mountains and trees take over.
There are several small towns along the lake from Bolton Landing to
the Hague.
Lodging
Runs between $10.00 a night camping to about $200+ a night at the
Sagamore Hotel and complex.
- Motels on Lake George Village, Bolton Landing, etc.
- Cabins everywhere
- Camping on shore or at one of the 30 or so state islands accessible
by boat only.
