    The Weirs on Winni has boat rentals, unfortunately most of them
    advertise that they are rentals across the whole side.  Tacky looking!
    
    I also heard that there is a place in Alton that rents, but they are
    very picky as to where you take it, how you drive it, etc...
    
    I would suggest checking w/ local marinas in the area. 
    
    P.S.  A word of caution - the waters on Winni can & will get very
    rough!  You might want to take that into consideration when choosing a
    length.

       They are not listed by that name in the 1990 NYNEX Boater's directory.
       Try calling information - Weirs Beach is in Laconia.
       
    Have fun!  But sit down when you call for reservatins, these boat 
    rentals ain't cheap!

    I suspect your best bet is to look at the NYNEX directory, but I do
    have a couple of vague suggestions for rentals on the Cape:  There's a
    marina at the north end of the canal that rents whalers and other small
    boats.  (Could be called Sagamore or Sandwitch Marina)  There's another 
    rental place in Wellfleet Harbor at the main docks - but I've forgotten 
    that name as well.   I do know you can rent a basic skiff, small dory,
    with a 6-8hp and they may have bigger stuff as well.
    ....wonderfull place to boat - wish I was there now......)
    
    I'd call the local chamber of commerce or look in the directory for the

    I WAS WAVED DOWN BY SOMEONE WHO RENTED A BOAT FROM THURSTON'S MARINA
    BECAUSE HE WAS'NT GIVEN ENOUGH GAS. HE PAID $150.00 FOR "HALF" THE
    DAY. THIS INCLUDED A 17' BOWRIDER WITH A 70 HORSE JOHNSON AND ABOUT
    8 GALLONS OF GAS. HE SAID THAT HE WAS ON THE LAKE FOR ABOUT A 1/2
    HOUR BEFORE HE HAD TO SWITCH TANKS. THEY MADE HIM SIGN A CONTRACT
    THAT BOUND HIM TO BUY THE BOAT "14,000" IF IT SANK, GOT STOLEN ,

    On lake Winnisquam, Winnisquam Marine rents Four Winns, 16' & 17'
    bowriders with 80hp to 120hp outboards. Winnisquam is a nice size
    lake for a 17' boat. I don't know how much a rental is or anyone
    who has actually rented either. Jays Marine rents boats too but
    I beleive he has only small pontoon boats.

    BTW,
    Thurstons on Winni rents Crestliner aluminum bowriders with 90hp
    OMC outboards. He likes the aluminum boats because they are durable
    and stand up to the abuse of renters.

    The Boston Sunday Globe has carried ads recently for a marina
    somewhere in the Boston area advertising powerboats for lease.
    I don't have any particulars.  The ad is in the "power boats
    for sale" area in the Sports section.
    

Hi,
	We'll be vacationing on Winnisquam this August. I'd appreciate
any recommendations of marinas on Winnisquam that rent boats. We're looking
for roughly a 16' aluminum ~10 HP outboard with 3 bench seats for a 2-3 day
rental.

	We rented a 16' 9.9HP Mirrocraft on Little Squam/Squam last year and
had a great time. Our sons (4 & 7 yrs) won't forgive us if we don't rent
again this year :-) !!

    Winnisquam Marine rents 17'-18' FourWinns bowriders with 110 OMC
    outboards, and Jay's Marine rents pontoon boats in a similar size.
    Don't think anyone rents what you have described. 
    
    On a 'good' day in August, fair weather, and plenty of boats, you'll
    have your hands full with a 16' aluminum. We had one our first year @
    Winnisquam it was wasn't suitable for your average weekend conditions.
    Buzzing around the small end of the lake, or around the perimeter would
    be the extent of what I would consider tolerable or enjoyable. 2-3'
    swells are not uncommon if the wind kicks up.
    
    Try the yellow pages, I think even the Boston area book had some
    Winnisquam/Winnie listings.

    	I have a 17ft fourwinns and I avoid Weirs on the weekends, even in
        good weather.  that has got to be one of the most travelled area 
        on the lake (at all hours of the day).  I would hate to be setting
    	out for a day trip in a rented boat from That area of the lake....
    	I guess thats the price you have to pay...  I would suggest renting
    	durring the week, it is much calmer water on a clear nonwindy day.

	I'm looking for a nice lake to spend acouple of days with my son
	fishing.  We'd like to rent a boat, and either camp out or stay on 
	the boat docked or moored.  We don't have a special place in mind;
	however we will be going in early to mid AUG during the week and are
	looking for some place not too crowed.  Any recomendations ?  Please
	if you do, also indicate where you think we could rent the boat?

    Just about all the bigger lakes in new hampshire have what you need.
    
    Marinas offer boat rentals. Everything from small row boats to very
    comfortable runabouts. If I remember a 19' I/O went for something like
    $135/half day, this is a nice boat of course. There is literally hund-
    reds of places to stay in the lakes region (it's their business) from
    campgrounds to individual "cabins" at waters edge. In season rates 
    would apply so you could figure $50-70/day for your own place.
    
    Take a ride up there and see what's available. your only problem
    would be making a choice.
