THere is a company called Northern Hydraulics (mail order)- they have
axles/springs/hubs/couplers/brakes/lights etc. Prices are the best I've
seen for trailer parts. They are slower than Molasses in shipping.

J.C. whitney (automotive mail order) also handles trailer axles- but
    selection is not as good.

I beleive there is a CATALOGS notesfile that probably has the adress
for Northern Hydraulics. I've got a catalog home, but I'm heading out
of town for the next week.

Almost as cheap as Northern Hydraulics and somewhat more local
is Spec Trailers in Boxborough, Mass - on Codman Hill road, same
street as BXB-2. Collecting all the bits is one thing, but you'll
probably need some amount of welding done - and if you catch Stan in
the right mood you can probably get him to weld the stub axles on for
example, for nothing (or close) and if you buy some stuff from him you
can usually scrounge the odd bits of angle iron or square steel tube
that you'll need for odd struts that you forgot about in the first
sketches.

| | Hi John

I just caught my eye on your last reply. "Welding is not a problem"

Do you have a MIG welder? If so I'll make you a swap? Haow about
trading the Trailer Springs & fenders and brackets I have in exchange
for welding up a radar arch for my boat?

I'll provide the Alum tubeing allready bent to the shape I need. I
think a friend can get me a deal on some? I'll have to check ?

| | I looked up Northern Hydraulics in the Thomas register and called
the one listed. He said I had the wrong place.

Anyone have an address and/or phone number?

I also tried Spec Trailers in Boxboro and got a recording
    saying their phone was temporarily
disconnected. Are they still in business?

   Thanks

    John

OK, I'll bring in the Northern Hyd number from a flyer tomorrow - could
dec mail it to you if you want, they tend to list that stuff most of the time.
Spec was still there a couple of days ago, at least there stuff was still in
the yard, I'll try to grab Stan sometime during daylight hours - come to think
of it the &^$% owes me ~$70 anyway for a pair of 8 inch wheels I returned, must
drop in soon.

| | number for Northern Hydraulics is 1-800-533-5545. They have wheels
and fenders, and stub axles. Didn't see any solid axles.

| | My brother replaced an axle last year from his boat trailer
with a new galvinized one with new brakes. You can have the old one if
you'd like. (We never get rid of anything) It's rusty but he thinks the
biggest problem was in the brake area, and it is probably good
for a utility trailer. Especially if you can weld some reinforcement
    plates etc...

Send me mail or call dtn381-0509, if your interested...

For what its worth, Spec Trailers in Boxborough seems to be
back in business - some kind of an extended vacation in Jamaica.
&BTW, his boat is down from the rafters and sitting in one of the
loading bays, on a heavily over engineered custom trailer ('natch).

| | Regarding boat trailers, I pass a place in Oxford, Mass. on route
12 (almost into Webster) where they have hundreds of boat trailers
at different stages of assembly. They must put them together there
for the marinas in the area. I would assume that they would also
have whatever you may need to build a trailer. Wayne
