Two good choices. Assuming you've been able to 'grind' the right
prices for both boats, the differences look like this:

Formula foams all their hulls - this makes them a little stiffer,
a lot quieter, and actually insulates them in cold water.

For the ocean, the longer the boat the easier the ride; the deeper
the 'V', the easier the ride. Three feet may not seem like much,
but in long ocean rollers, three feet can make all the difference.

Must have options? Mercathodes (or other sacrifial anode
arrangement)...fresh water cooling helps engine life...a GOOD set
of trim tabs (not the skinny little Bennett tabs).

| | I have heard (as you know) that Formula does not hold it's resale price
as well as a Wellcraft (for example) because Formula's do not allow for
much bargaining power. Also was told that you're paying for the name
    in the Formula.

Just hear say from the Wellcraft dealership that we just visitied.

    Is this true?

    RE: .3

Actually as a percentage of initial sales price, Formula seems to
    at least equal Wellcraft.

My experience has been that any Formula dealer will take 20-22%
off the list and that Wellcraft will go 24-26% off the list. This
assumes that you don't need other things from the dealer that only
they can provide - like a slip on a tight lake or at a very desirable
    marina.

All this gets confused if you're looking at a trade, but the above
numbers are pretty consistent. Sportboats in general don't hold
their values as well as other types of boats....another confusing
factor in trying to figure 'holding value'

| 493.5 | Save the $27K - and take a vacation.. | ASPEN2::BOIKO | Is this Heaven..No, it's Iowa.. | Tue Aug 29 1989 15:31 | 15 |
| | Sue,
I happen to like both boats very much, but I can't help but think,
how you can ever justify the $27,000 difference in price between the
	two boats on quality/performance/resale.
They are both good boats - so why not just save the $27K difference
and put it toward a tow vehicle, boat options, slip rental.etc..you're
still getting a slightly larger boat with the Baja.
The difference alone could buy a pretty good boat itself...Rick, what
would $27K buy in a Correct Craft..?
							Good Luck
