Well, after looking at the Nautique brackets and considering
the different ways to modify them, I'm leaning towards extending
the garage. Currently there is a utility room behind the garage
and I figure a large shelf from the garage extending into the
utility room would serve nicely as a place for the swim platform.
Any carpenters in the file?

| I HAVN'T SEEN A REMOVABLE PLATFORM, BUT I HAVE SEEN ONE ON A
HINGE AFFAIR. THIS ONE HAD CHROME PLATED CHAINS ON EACH SIDE.
IT WORKED, AND DIDN'T LOOK TOO BAD AT ALL. ITS ALTERNATIVE.

| Re -1: Chains on the platform of a ski-boat wouldn't be practical
as they would interfer with the ski and exit/entry.
Re Rick: Overton's has Dolphin brackets for 23.95/set (3 sets are
required) I'm sure they have them for a Nautique...Worth a phone
call. Another option is the replacement Aluminum brackets. They
are a direct replacement for dolphins, from a company in Cal. which
advertises in WSki Mag. (I forget the name and price, something
like $29/set (?) anyone??) I'm considering replacing my dolphins
with these as they are more durable/no flex.
Or, you could just expand into the utility room :^)

re: Happy Daze had a swim platform with cables running from
the transom to the outer edge of the platform and it does
make putting on a ski difficult. Those damn skiers! first
thing they check is the power then if they can put on a ski
on the swim platform!

I talked to Overton's and they said that Dolphins won't fit
a Nautique.... I think it's carpentry time, but I'll check Wski
mag for the ad you mentioned.

| Rick, one more thought.
The Dolphin step is made out of black plastic right? Ok so
your boat is only the second best ski boat in the world, 8-),
but it is a ski boat and that platform isn't going to look right
unless it's made out of wood. Leave it the way it is, it looks
cool that way. Go for the hole in the utility room. Besides,
you don't really need a carpenter, just back that Nautique in
there a little too far one time and you're all set.

We're talking BRACKETS, the Teak platform will remain intact.
FWIW: Dolphin makes both polycarbonate (Yech) and teak (Yeah)
platforms.

D-TYPE: Available to re-fit boats with existing plastic removable
swimboard brackets without drilling new holes in the transom.
($43.00 retail/bracket)
S-TYPE: Available for all transom board applications with no vertical
transom obstructions.
($42.00 retail/bracket)
Construction is of black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. (optional color
anodizing and special applications are available)

I called Alloy welding and the price certainly is 43 bucks
per bracket that's 43 x 4 ... Ouch! Plus getting them here...
Needless to say when I got the boat home last night I put
on my carpenter's hat and started moving walls. Corrective
Action is inside warm and dry now....
