Is anyone here familiar with Long Pond in Dracut? I am looking
at a house on the water there and was interested in a few things.
How clean is the water?
Whats the traffic like on a Saturday or Sunday?
What are the restrictions? Hp? length?
Does the water level change much through the summer. This could
be important because the particular place I am looking at is
at one end and the water if shallow (1 1/2 to 2 feet) in the area
where I would Dock.

Contact Ski & Sport Shak in Plaistow N.H. as they have their annual
ski tourney on Long Pond. They would know what the restrictions
are. It may be boats for "lake residents only" but I'm not sure.

A couple of answers...
Like almost all of the lakes in the area, long pond has heavy weed
growth due mostly to leakage from septic systems. Tyngsboro is
in the process of connecting its area around the pond to the sewer
system. Dracut may be doing the same thing, I don't know. There
are actually 4 towns with a claim on the pond: Tyngsboro and Dracut
Mass, and Hudson and Pelham NH.
The water is tested (weekly?) and is swimmable.
Traffic on the weekends is a zoo, just like everywhere else 8-).
There are no size/HP limits. There is a 45MPH limit on Mass in-land
waters. I heard that it's kind of tough for non-residents to get a
boat on the pond. There are right-of-ways that lead to the lake, but
you'll never hear anyone volunteer where they are.
I don't know about changes in depth.
There is a lake association. You could probably get a phone # from
the Dracut town hall.
