| | While dreaming, how about the Octopussy!! 132 feet, 53.7 knots.
In 5 foot seas, medium load fuel and water, custom tender aboard
in chocks, 275 pound anchor, 600' chain and 25 people.
Powered by 3 MTU diesels (10,000 HP total i think) and KaMeWa jets.

This is not a stripped down racer...5 owner/guest cabins, three
crew cabins, 9 bathrooms, jacuzzi, sauna, barbecue on the bridge.

I wonder how many skiers it could pull?

| | I can second the vote for the Octopussy. I came in to
Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard (aka Chapaquidick, aka Ted's Car
Wash) this weekend behind it and two other boats in its
class. (I am basically in the class of its tenders). I
think all three were jet boats of some sort. They were on
some kind of parade. There was a helicopter filming the
whole thing. Definately a nice boat. They came in to
Edgartown, turned around and left. I heard them on the
    radio.
On a kind of funny note a few of the comments sounded
famaliar . . . "we'd like to come along side to calibrate
our speedometer - it hasnt worked right since it was fixed"
"we're getting a little more speed now, I think. We moved
some of the weight to the bow". I guess no matter what boat
    you have . . .

If you know the owner personally, ask him (or her) if they'd be
willing to go for the record. I still want to take a shot at it!
:-) What is the record now, over 100? We missed out last year
while the QE2 was in Boston! :-)

| | re .1 132 ft @ 53.7 knots? Whats the wake like? Will it even fit
    thru' a slalom course :-)?

    re -1
Isn't the record held by a catamaran in Australia? Is there a fresh
water record for max number of skiers?

Ah yes. I was also in Edgartown that weekend. The three boats
were the Octopussy, the Silver Shalis, and the Acura. Nice boats.
All three came into Kataama Bay and circled while a helicopter took
video from overhead. Yes, the rich at play.

I also heard a lot of grumblings from people on the radio who were
calling the Edgartown Harbormaster to complain. It seems that the
Octopussy was having some fun cruising at high speed and reportedly
putting up an 8-10 foot wake. Yikes. Then again, what do you expect
a 131 foot boat to do at 30 knots???

For a good article, read the Motoryacht magazines report on the
Octupussy. It's in the megayacht isuue (July?). Good stuff.

    Cheers,
    John

| | 8-10 foot wake!?!?!?!? WOW! I'll bet I could do a kneeboard
helicopter off of that one! :-) Hey Jeanne, think you could get
in a couple of trick ski helicopters off that wake? :-) I'll bet
that the wake on that 132'er isn't too bad at 53.7 knots...but at
15-20...? Yee haa! Let me get my jump skis! :-) As for the slalom
    course, well........ :-)

I'll have to look up the record for skiers behind one boat, both
fresh water and salt water, and report back.

A wake like that would probably send me to another planet, Roger!
Something tells me these boats are not designed for skiing :>).

| | I've read, or seen on TV, that Donald Trump (in these troubled times
for hom) had the Trump Princess up for sale. I wonder if his classified
ad read "Serious Inquiries Only"? :-)

| | He's selling at $125-$175 Million, or so he said on ABC's Prime Time
Live show last week, which was a pretty funny interview by the way. Sam
Donnelson tried to exert some pressure on Donald, and wouldn't let Mr.
Trump speak to answer a question, and Mr. Trump injected
"Sam, you're rude to most people, don't be rude to me."

    It was great!

Maybe for $175,000,000 you get to keep the electronics and champagne,
    for $125,000,000 he keeps them. :-) :-)

Yes indeed he ordered a bigger one, it will be 120 meters I'll think
times 3.3 this will gives the length in feet.
It will be build in Makkum in Holland and to be sure
everything goes as he wants it, he bought the complete shipyard
which is actually not a real small one.

Must be nice to be rich sometimes.
