	Barry,
I don't know if they service Johnson but at least call Middlesex
Power and Marine in Tyngsboro. I've recently had dealings with
them and would gladly drive an hour for their courtesy, cleanliness
and attitude. You feel it as soon as you walk in. Ask around,
I can safely say that these trates are not found too often.

| | re .1	I'm getting mixed messages about MP&M. Two years ago
they seemed like a bunch of used car sales people, I DIDN'T buy
from them. No REAL prices on the boats, everything started out
negotiable, wouldn't discuss list price, etc. Since then I've had
good luck with their parts counter and with the service folks, lotsa
free advice, always willing to talk about problems, etc. I do ALL
my own work, maybe that makes a difference, I can talk their language.

Get a hold of Performance Boats in Hooksett, they are 1/2 up the
road from Owens Marine on RT 28. They can repair or replace the prop
and repair your low unit. His work is good and can give a fairly
fast turn around. The number is 603-627-1250.

    Good Luck

| | As a legal point, to keep both you and Digital out of trouble:

It is reasonable to say, "I don't reccommend dealer X".
It is reasonable to list any FACTUAL data that would lead
a person to that same conclusion.

You should NOT say, "Don't go to dealer Y". That can get you
    into legal trouble.

| 70.6 | Middlesex Power | HINGE::DECAROLIS |  | Mon Jul 11 1988 17:05 | 21 |
| | My experience with Middlesex Power has been both good and not so
    good.

I bought my boat from them and was very pleased with the service
    and price.

The not so good service was just recently when I brought the boat
in for some troubleshooting work. I asked them to fix the problem,
and repack the trailor bearings. What I got back was a boat with
repacked trailor bearings, an engine that ran the same as it
did when I dropped it off, and a bill for $154.00.

The engine though, doesn't appear to have problems until after its
    been running for awhile.

So its back down to MM&P tomorrow, hopefully they won't look
at me like I'm nuts when I tell them whats been happening. (they
tell me the boat runs fine for them, but of course!)

| | Another dealer to try might be Valley Marina around Rindge, NH.
I know they're an OMC dealer, but one I have only purchased
accessories from. Negotiating purchases from them has been resonable
    in the past on motors.

| 70.8 | Engine not running fine after a while? | PILOU::ZEE | Multi-Processing pure Schizophrenia | Tue Jul 12 1988 11:55 | 19 |
| | Hello Jeanne ,
I don,t know what kind of engine you have but the problem sound very familiar
I had this on a 65 HP mercury I brought the engine to a dealer with did
a inspection and some adjustments found nothing but the engine was running
fine afterwards. Then I went 700 miles to the south (much warmer) and the same
problem was their again,I went again to a dealer he did some adjustments found
nothing, problem gone. Then I went home again (colder) problem back etc.
It ended with a explanation from a dealer who told me that a lot of engines
need readjustment of their carburator when the temperatures changes.
It is the same type of adjustment with is done on a car to bring the cO
back to a accepted level.
When I went the first time with a OMC 165 HP and after an hour I noticed
the same problem when I wanted to accelerate I could fix it in 5 minutes
only by turning this screw on the carb. ( I found on most carbs. their
is only one big screw and thats the one.)

	Reg,
They told me that was a major shake-up in management recently.
Don't know when tho...New parts manager and new service managers.
Can you confirm...??? This would or could explain the free advise
that they gave to me also. They saved me, (or my insurance co.)
over $500 in parts and labor that MP&P could have reaped for
themselves. This in turn saved me from laying the boat up for
two + weeks in peak boating season and of course the deductable.

    Harry,

If they haven't figured out what the problem is by tonight, I'll
tell them to check "the Big Screw" on the carbeurator.... :) Though
after talking to the owner this afternoon, and explaining the
symptoms, we've got it narrowed down to a problem in the gas tank
    itself (hose)...

    Re: Last

    Regarding Middlesex Marine,

I'd say they're going to have another shake-up in both their
sales and service department. Deal with the owner (Mike) if
    you can....he's straightforward (very).

Just wish he'd stop calling me "Dear".... does he call you guys
    that?! :) :)

| | re .10	Well, vent screw or hose... its all fuel starvation
to the carb., guess we were getting pretty close on the phone yesterday ?
(You shoulda said that you put the tank on the hose to keep it from
    rattling :-^))
re "Terms of endearment", I don't think anyone in a Marina has
ever called me "Dear", should I feel underpriviledged or something ?
re "the Big Screw" make sure they know about the lose nut working
    on it.

So, first thing in the morning, let us know how it all went,
and what it finishes up costing you ?

    	Reg

| | Reg,

The way I understood the dealer was that the hose was "inside"
the gas tank. I'll find out tonight when I pick the boat up.
    Hopefully, all is well.
