| 63.1 | Go with BARR | ROGER::GAUDET | Ski Nautique | Wed Jul 06 1988 12:14 | 16 |
| | I just replaced both exhaust manifolds on my '65 Correct Craft Mustang
    289 Ford with Barr Marine exhausts. They're quite the piece(s)
    of hardware. I used to have the "log" type manifolds but the machine
    guy talked me into the "high-rise" type...supposedly better
    performance. Well, I agree with him now. They're great! According
    to the two different marinas I talked to, Barr replacement parts
    are as good if not better than original equipment at a significantly
    lower price. Stock replacement log type manifolds were > $600, I
    got the Barrs with risers, reducers (3" -> 2-1/2"), bolt kits, clamps,
    and a couple of 1' hose sections for $450.

    I don't know where you're located, but Denny's Marine in Grafton
    Mass. has the Barr catalogs. Ask for Denny or Art. They're very
    helpful. 1-617-839-5341. FYI, Barr is located in Pennsylvania.

| 63.2 | Thanks for the info | NRADM::KARL |  | Wed Jul 06 1988 13:00 | 11 |
|  |     RE .1 - Thanks, Roger, I feel better now! I didn't know anything
    about Barr parts, it's good to get a recommendation.

    My boat's at a repair shop in Jamestown, RI, and they are ordering
    and installing the part. Thanks for the info as to where I can get
    parts - it will come in handy if I start doing some of my own repair
    work.

    Thanks again.

| 63.3 | Another dealer near you (or your boat) | ROGER::GAUDET | Ski Nautique | Wed Jul 06 1988 13:20 | 11 |
| | No problem Bill, glad I could help. I hope it all works out for
    you. BTW, if you want another R.I. source for Barr parts, I got
    my manifolds through Marine Machinery Service on Seminole St. in
    Warwick (they're off Oakland Beach Ave. if you know the area).
    Denny's Marine gave me the initial information about Barr but my
    boat is in R.I. and Marine Machinery had some of the parts in stock.
    They told me that Barr is pretty much the "standard" replacement
    parts supplier for just about every marine manufacturer. And the
    price is right!

    		Is that where Marine Machinery is now? When I dealt
    with them for a reverse gear for "Happy Daze" they were in
    Providence. Is this the same outfit? Dan Terceiro?

    I don't know the old man's name, but his son's name is Gerry and
    it's the same outfit. They moved a couple of months ago to Warwick,
    right on the water, but they're still operating out of several tractor
    trailer boxes...they'll be building soon. The place looks like
    a dump, but they know their stuff and they have most of what you
    need right in stock. No frills, you pay for the parts, not a red
    carpet and free coffee!

    	Yeah,

    		that's the place.. it is a dump but if you walk
    in asking for a part they usually can dig it out of somewhere.
