I would like to get some information about Webster Lake from any
of y'all who have been there before. I am going to be going
down there for a recognition picnic on a friday and I am thinking
about maybe bringing my boat along.
We will be at Indian Ranch (wherever that is).
I have a 17.5' boat with an I/O.
I have never been there before so Iwould like some information
on the following topics:
Public Access Ramps - Where they are?
Is there a cost?
Quality of ramp?
When they open on a weekday?
(cost is a small factor since it is a one
time deal, and I don't mind paying for
a good ramp) Car is rear wheel drive
But I MAY be able to borrow a 4WD)
Are there any charts available?
Are hazards well marked? ie: charts or bouys.
( I am real concerned about rocks and hazards since I have never
been there before so any info would be very apreciated.)
How crouded would it be on a Friday afternoon?
If you have any info at all please feel free to respond here,
send mail, or call.
Thanx,
Mike Smith dtn:225-7237 ZEN::SMITH

Hi Mike,
Webster is a very nice lake, it's actual name is Chargagowabunga
something-or-other.. Any hazards that I know of are well marked
the only one that isn't is the narrows between the two main
parts of the lake. When heading from the boat ramp side to
the other side keep to the left..... There is also supposed to
be a place right on the water called "Waterfront Mary's"?? Maybe
Roger could comment on this..
Just happened to have them on the system already....
Directions to Webster Lake boat ramp.....
Route 290 into Route 395 to exit 2. Take a left at the stop sign,
this is Gore Rd. (route 16), follow for about 1.5 miles.
You will go by a small convenience center (Honey Farm, Pizza place, telephone)
Right after that bear right at blinking yellow light (Lower Gore Rd.).
this road is narrower, continue on this road for about 1.5 miles
until you come to a small island in the road and take a right
( this is across from a small horse field)
stay on this road for about .5 miles (windy and populated) and the ramp
is on the right hand side, parking on the left.

Oh yeah.... Webster's ramp is concrete and not that steep,
I pulled "Happy Daze" out with a Dodge Challenger once. I
heard rumors of a fee but I'm not sure..

Webta Lake is quit a zoo these days ( what isn't ), but anyway
there is another ramp @ the beach, though much steeper than the
foe mentioned location, and unlike the other $ are charged.
Indian Ranch is located off the middle pond, coming from the free
ramp you Will want to stay to the lefter side of the narrows , at
this narrows there will be a 3 story stone house, still probally
work being done to the porch. continue to the right of the island
staight to the farthest point you can see, thats th Ranch.
Stay away from shore points, and its a good idea to either stay
planed off or putting ( No cloud watching )
The north (Wwaterfront Mary's and Beach narrows) take thru the middle
If you take a left @ ex 2, 1/2 mile on the left , the first left
there is Webster Lake Sporting, They should have a map, and will
show the low spots, generally the town doesn't mark the waters,
Also this year, they don't have a gas station.
the beach ramp, Exit 1, right at stop sign, right turn at second
light (next to police station)
Danny who use to live there
and wishes he still did

| 57.4 | thanx for the info... | BINKLY::SMITH | Fri Jul 01 1988 13:20 | 14 | |
Thanks for the info Rick and Dan.
I think that as long as the weather is good and the car is
running I will give it a shot.
Going to new lakes is fun but I feel so much more comfortable
on my own lake where I know where the rocks are.
Thanx again,
Mike Smith
