    As just mentioned, the dad of one of my collegues died this morning in
    the age of 56. Moreover, tomorrow will be her last day with DEC.

    Tom and I received a distressing phone call from an old FRIEND::
    and hope some of you can help.  
    
    Skip Hogge is now living in Washington state and not doing too well.
    He is very down and depressed.  
    
    If any of you can send him a little card just to say hi and to 
    raise his spirits, it would be appreciated.
    
    He was recently asked to move out of his apartment, however, since
    he doesn't yet have a permanent address, they are holding his mail
    for him and he picks it up when he can.

Well, I already sent a note to Skip, so it's too late to include your well
wishes for him...that's what happens when you work 2nd shift, always a day
late or early :-)

A little insight to Skip for those of you who don't know him, not that I know
him well.  Skip is the kind of guy who, when given any problem, will come up
with a creative solution.  He's a real renaissance man as far as I'm concerned.
He also gives the best hugs!!!  He's also a very sensitive guy.  Sigh...I
do hope things go well for him.

    Hi Everyone, I hope I get a serious response to this note.
    
    I would like to mention that my cat of 6yrs died on Wednesday 17th of
    April in a unknown way, I guess I will never know.
    Hi name is "Minky", I kinda got Minky when I first moved into my flat
    in Nov 1990, I had just got married and he just came along with the
    flat. I then got seperated in April 1992, and he and I stayed in the
    flat, I then rented it out and he came with me to my Parents house in
    Aug 1994, where he responded well and my father loved him aswell as the
    rest of my family.
    
    He was a great little guy, Black and white small, and very placid, and
    trusting, he had no road sense, and had been run over 3 times before.
    I really miss the little guy, and wasnt ready for this feeling I have
    of missing him, most people say "Och! its just a cat", thats thier
    opinion, but he was my wee buddy and companion, when I was down, now
    I have lost him, and lost his character. 
    
    I will always remember him  "Minky".

    I can truly sympathise with you as an animal love myself. Positive
    energy and big *HUGS* heading your way. 
    
    Lolas been through the same thing recently and I've has an agonising
    few months as my dog had a very large tumour (but is thankfully on the

    great love of pets and I understand how attached one can get to them.

    I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.  I still am very sad when I think of
    my pets that have died.  They become such a big part of your life...
    and don't we wish that we could receive such unconditional love from
    the supposedly superior people in our lives!  
    
    I always found it cruel that a pet's life expectancy is so much shorter
    than a persons....just isn't fair.  
    
    But please remember all the good times you had together.  Your lives
    were both made better by the connection!

Those last few replies really brought a tear to my eyes, so beautifully put.
I can't add much more, other to say that I too am here to lend a sympathetic
ear and know how difficult it is to lose a loved one.  Just focus on the
good times you had together and Minky will be in your heart forever.

    I definitely understand your loss.  I've lost a number of cats in my
    past.  I presently share my life with five cats, and wouldn't have it
    any other way.  They are a part of my (growing) family.
    
    I posted this in FELINE a long time ago.  Author is unknown.  I hope it
    helps.
    
    Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

    When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
    that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.  There are meadows and hills for all
    of our special friends so they can run and play together.  There is
    plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
    comfortable.  All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to
    health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
    strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times
    gone by.

    The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:
    they miss someone very special to them;
    who had to be left behind.

    They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly
    stops and looks into the distance.  The bright eyes are intent; the
    eager body quivers.  Suddenly he begins to break away from the group,
    flying over the green grass.  His legs carrying him faster and faster. 
    YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally
    meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. 
    The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the
    beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your
    pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.  

    Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ...

    The other folks sia d so much already, it s hard to add to their 
    sentiments. I know how hard it is to lose a pet and especially 
    when you don't know what happened. Its just senseless.

    Martin, you have my deepest sympathy.  I am going through the same
    thing right now.  Friends are great to have around.
    
    We found Magic (Black Magic because she was solid black) in August
    1984.  She was estimated at 1-2 years old and was very ill.  We brought
    her back to health and had her now for almost 12 years.  This January she
    became very ill and was diagnosed with a congenital heart disorder.  
    Since January she has been on lots of medication and in some pain.  We
    made the decision and with the vets recommendation on Friday when she 
    became weak and was not eating to put her down.  It is the hardest thing 
    I've ever done.  
    
    Please say a prayer for Magic.

Sabrina.    They are all in kitty heaven now, playing, frolicking and 
reminiscing about the wonderful human companions they had here on earth.

    HyI Folks,
    
    I would like for all of us to pray for a young friend of mine
    who got killed yesterday, and pray for his family and friends.
    
    David Dunnibie was only 20 years old, and loved life, he was alway
    cracking a joke and will be sadly missed by myself.
    
    He was driving his car on the Glasgow to Maybole road A77, when he
    had a head on crash with a van, his car halfed in 2, and was killed
    instantly.
    
    Exactly a 9 years ago his big cousin also died through a car crash
    he also was only 20 years old.
