Hello world,
hope my question is at the right note.
A local newspaper here in Germany wrote a couple of weeks ago about a
strange thing happend on Commet Halley. There should have been a big
explosion and the observing scientists are unable to explain this
event, because it happened in a very large distance from sunradiation.
There shall exist some pictures from this event made by telescopes, but
no name and no location was named.
Is something known of this story ??? Or is it a hoax ??

Comet Halley flared. Something that was not expected that far away
from the Sun. Comets sometimes flare and break-up as they swing near
the Sun, but usually they start calming down as the travel away from
the Sun.
Astronomy and Sky & Telsecope magazines had a news item on it a little
while back, and I think someone posted it in the astronomy notes file
too.
