Congratulations to the russians on the first (albeit unmanned) launch
and recovery of their SNOWSTORM Shuttle.
( I Still can't see any major visual difference between the shuttles
- except the CCCP one doesn't have Main engines - they're on an
ENERGIA booster)
Of course, they've got a space station to service - When's the new
American/European one due?

What I can't get over is that there wasn't a peep on the news last
night about the Russian shuttle! CNN showed some launch and landing
shots as a trailer, but with no explanation of what it was, and
I'm sure that most of the population (if they even saw it) would
assume it was _our_ shuttle.
Of course, our space station is going to be far superior to theirs,
while theirs requires a resupply every 60 days, ours only requires
5 resupplies a year...... Actually, I'll be really surprised if
NASA's Steadily Shrinking Space Station happens, it's going to need
_so_ many shuttle launches (in addition to the cost of the hardware)
that it will require the (almost) undivided attention of our entire
shuttle fleet to build and supply it. Heck, we had a fine space
station decades ago....

The Buran launch was one of the lead stories on the MacNeal-Lehrer
News Hour last night. Maybe you watch the wrong news shows?
