Is there any limitation to the total number of ports a DC500 can
have???
Where is the firmware located?? On the Management module??
Can a DC500 support 2-6port and 1-4port boards at the same time???
If yes, why would it fail selftest with those 3 boards???
Thank You

Not really, I believe the maximum number of ports on any of the
port cards is 6, a total of 18 ports.

No, it's located on the backplane, you need a management module
installed to down load firmware.

Yes, old firmware, there were backplane ecos for a power-up problem.
How is it failing, what are the symptoms?
What is the failing configuration, does it fail with one 6port card,
two 6port cards, one 4port card, a 4port and a 6port, 2-6port and a
four port?
Does it come up at all?
What version of firmware are you running? You should be at 3.4a, you
can get this using the obm port or via snmp. What are the module (on
the handle) and chassis (on the front sticker) revisions?

All Leds turn red and stay that way.
What is the failing configuration?
The DC500 works fine as long as the Network Mgt card is in. 2- 6 ports
or 1- 4 port and 1- 6 port works. But take out the Mgt card and add
another 6 port or another 4 port and it fails.
DEfcn-BA is the base unit A01 no jumpers
All port cards are A01
Net Mgt card is A01
Can the firmware version be see via Nduplus??
Can the firmware can be DLL via nduplus ???
Thank You
Mark

I just tried the same configuration, firmware version 3.1 (acient)
and 3.4a, same module and chassis versions, moved the modules around
didn't see any problems.
Tomorrow I'll try to get with the hw support person and see if there
are any backplane issues and what backplane version should be with
the -BA chassis.
My immediate thoughts are that it may be wicked old code or a hardware
problem with that slot. Did you use the top slot when you tried the
two modules, are there any bent pins? That may rule out the broken slot
thought.
Here's a pointer to the version 3.4a saveset if you find you need it,
