| Hi,
I don't know what it is. I have a request from a manager who was called
by a customer. That is why I am asking here. I have never heard of
"iec" . Thinking about it though maybe it is IEEE 825, I will have to
call the customer personaly to find out.

| IEC 825 is a European Standard regarding optical sources (LED and
lasers) and their classification as to safety. The important
class is Class 1 - the most safe class of lasers or LED. If an optical
device is classified as a Class 1 device, then it is considered as not
presenting any hazards to people - especially eye hazards.
ALL of our FDDI, ATM, and Ethernet Optical network products use optical
devices that are certified to be Class 1 devices. This applies to LED
based devices, such as the DEFPA-AA, and even to our laser based FDDI
and ATM products. Class 1 Optical safety limits are a must item for
the products that we design.

Do we have documemtation showing the defpa meets CLASS 1
specifications. And were can I get them..

I have a defpa-in manual and it shows the module as being CLASS B
complient. Does this meet iec 825 standards????

| Hi,
Does anyone know is the DEFPA-AA meets IEC 825 standards. As it turns
out the customer is an OEM and has to prove to his customer that the
module is complient in order to sell the units. So I need to send him
something documented.

| Joe,
Dick already stated in .3 that the DEFPA meets or exceeds this
specification. If you need something documented to that effect, please
contact George Nielsen (DELNI::G_NIELSEN) who is the product manager
or Ron Steffero (DELNI::RONSTEFFERO) who is the OEM manager.
