hello from munich,
we are working with an application partner on a fingerprint
application. When we send a 8Mbyte data from a 90mhz pentium with a
DEFPA-AA card to a 2100 4/275 with DEFEA, we achive a maximum thruput
of 400KByte. The pc runs ms-dos 6.22 and the alpha runs OpenVMS 6.x
the transport protocol is pathworks tcp. my understanding is that
pathworks uses the ndis driver and there is a buffer size limitation of
1500 bytes.
Is there another software around where we can transfer this data within
1 (one) second.
any info is appreaciated

The Microsoft TCP/IP stacks aren't known for speed (at least when
compared to our stacks like under Digital UNIX) but you should be able to
do better than 400KBytes. Rather than run the NDIS 2.01 DEFPA driver
under DOS, is it possible to run the Windows 95 32-bit driver for DEFPA
and run your app under Windows 95? The driver does support TCP/IP
(even if NetBEUI and IPX/SPX don't work) and you should get better
performance being a full 32-bit networking environment.
