VMS ver 6.1H2 - After shuttind down/rebooting VMS, the LED on the PORT flashes and the DEFPA-DA is not usable. Turning the system AXP 2000-4/133 OFF/ON and then rebooting the system fixes the problem and the DEFPA can be used again. Alphonse

| 1720.1 | Try BOOT_RESET ON | STAR::STOCKDALE | Mon Jun 19 1995 13:46 | 7 | |
On system shutdown, the VMS shutdown routine is called which resets the DEFPA. I don't know why it doesn't come back on reboot, but I would check the setting of BOOT_RESET to make sure it is set to ON. And you might look in SDA at SHOW LAN/DEV=FWA to see if there are any errors that might give a clue. Also, what is a 2000 4/133 system? - Dick

Thank you for the reply, that did NOT solve the problem. We will replace the controller and try again. Will post the result here. The machine is 400 4/233 Sek
| 1720.3 | >>>init starts the defpa-da o.k. | GIDDAY::POPPINS | Tue Jun 20 1995 02:05 | 12 | |
Hi all,
as a better workaround, after the VMS shutdown, if the system is
initialized i.e
>>> init
the defpa-da comes up up on the cluster and SCS runs on the FDDI ring.
So, what does a hard INIT do that the boot flag does not do?
Where to from here?
