1582.0. "NIS and NFs startup on a DEFAA" by PORVAX::MORAIS () Fri Feb 10 1995 12:57
Hi,
I'm having problems with the following configuration:
1 DEC7000/610 and 2 DEC4000/610 connected over fddi (first
interface) and ethernet.
1 DEC3000/400 connected only to the ethernet, it is NIS and
NFS server.
No problem when using ethernet as the first interface.
After configuring the fddi as the first interface sometimes we
got following messages during the DEC7000/610's OSF/1 startup:
....
ypbind: can't register TCP service
ypbind: going down
...
Mounting NFS file systems:
NFS Portmapper: RPC Portmapper failure. RPC unable to send.
So, no NIS and no NFS after startup. If we start NIS and NFS
immediately after startup it goes without errors.
Is it a timing problem?
Any help would be very appreciated.
Ana
