I'm taking a grad course in Data Comm - an area I knew little about
beforehand. I'm doing a research paper on FDDI and high speed LAN
technologies. I'm currently submerging myself in books and articles
on the subjects. The focus of the paper should be development or
issues which are current (within the past 2 years). In my searchings
I have not found many recent articles.
But I wonder whether that is partially because I need to know what
the issues are to look for them effectively.
If would appreciate some ideas for current issues from those who
already know the technology -

How about researching Full Duplex FDDI and its relevance on
building non-routed high speed networks (i.e. GIGAswitch)?
Or/and the dilemna of Novell 802.3 "raw mode" frames and their .
relationship to FDDI implementations i.e. translation methods to make
them legal FDDI format or toss them...
