I've perused this notesfile for info on MIBS and SNMP management of the DECbridge 500/600s and found much of it to be somewhat dated. Can someone please provide me with an update on what the current state of play is in regards to SNMP management of DECbridges ? I have a number of questions being asked which I need to respond to namely :- - what MIBS are supported/required to SNMP manage DECbridge 520s ? - how does the customer get them ? If he has no external access to the likes of Internet and Gatekeeper etc. can we ship them ? Do we charge for this ? - how does the customer ascertain which version of code his bridges are running if he has no management via ELMS/DECmcc/SNMP ? The customer has a SUN based SNMP manager - I have yet to find out which "flavour".... Thanks for any guidance/help. Rog

Forgot to ask.... At some stage I think the customer has attempted to access the DECbridge via his SNMP manager and got a message saying something about "community strings".. Can anyone clarify just what this is likely to be about ? ttfn Rog |
