Hello,
I hope someone can enlighten me on the subject of different
characteristcs in running Ethernet over fiber.
As I see it, there are three standards:
10BASE-FL Asynchronous signaling
10BASE-FB Synchronous signaling proposed by Chipcom I think
FOIRL
I gusss my bottom-line question is "what do I need to understand
or be concerned about running Ethernet over fiber in Sales situation
other than knowning what fibre medium (multi- or single-mode fibre)
customers might have at their premises.
I am a little concerned on the compatibility issues between vendors
when there exist several standards.

I'd suggest you ask that question in the Ethernet notesfile. paul | |||||

Re -1,
Thanks for the pointer. I found very relevant topics discussed in
the UPSAR::ETHERNET Notes Conference - especially 40.1, 77, 173.
Thanks.
