Hello All Should loopback connectors (12-32005-01) or the dust covers be installed in unused Multomode ports in a DECconcentrator 500. The installation documentation is not specific on this. Paul Kirk Dublin MCS

    Hello Paul,

To my knowledge you can use the loopback-connectors for test-purposes
(you can see the led's change state; if not you have a problem).
You should use the (black) dust-covers to prevent the FO-connectors
on the concentrator from being contaminated. That could otherwise give you
unwanted attenuation if you decide to use those ports later on.

    Cheers,

    Bart Rietkerk.

| Right. Loopback connectors are not necessary or useful in normal use. But dustcovers should be installed on any unused connector... paul | |||||
