Does anyone know of a way to force a station to Beacon/Ring. I'm helping with
a FDDI course and I'm doing some traces on a ring. I would like to show a
Beaconing process, but I have yet been able to produce one. I can get a
Claiming process with no problems by just disconnecting fiber. But according
to everything I've read, the only way to start a Beacon is to have the Claiming
process to fail or if SMT requests it. Can anyone tell me how to force SMT to
request it.

The second half of Topic 926.9 mentions a way to cause
beaconing.
