Here's the bimonthly update on the TP-PMD standards meeting.
This meeting was one where work in progress is reported, and
few decisions get made.
The connector pinouts were chosen at this meeting. The UTP
will use an RJ45, with transmit on pins 1&2, and receive on
pins 7&8. The STP will use a 9 pin D-sub, with transmit on
pins 5&9, receive on pins 1&6.
Work continues on the transmit spec, and the receive spec, so
there is nothing new there. The transmit level was decided
at the last meeting to be 2.0 V p-p.
More after the June meeting.

I have two questions.....
1 - Is there an update on the status of UTP cabling from the June Standards
Meeting?
2 - What is DIGITAL's OFFICIAL position on hardware support for a UTP
standard. In other words are there planned products in the short
term that will be designed and sold that will integrate UTP FDDI into
let say the DEChub 900?
I am ***NOT*** asking for anthing "private" in a public notes file just
some generic infomration on whether it is something we are going to do in
the short/near term.
Thanks for any help !!!!
Gary

We are planning to produce UTP modules for the DECHub 900 FDDI concentrator as well as the EISA FDDI adapter. These units will be shown at the August Interop in California. For details on product/project announcements, contact Sharon O'Neill (workstation adapters, DELNI::ONEILL) and Karl Pieper (concentrators and bridges, DELNI::PIEPER). bill utp development team | |||||
