853.0. "Fiber Connecting?" by ESOA11::BRAMHALL () Tue Feb 09 1993 11:23
    I am a sales rep who sells to a number of Scientific Instrument
    manufacturers in the New England area. I am trying to get a better
    understanding of what they do. One customer in particular does their
    own fiber connecting. They are sometimes working with core sizes of
    1500 microns. They use SMA, FT, and FC connectors. They do spooling,
    respooling, connecting, splicing, etc. of these fibers. This fiber is a
    component of medical equipment.

    Are there any similarities between the FDDI cable connecting that we do
    with and what this company does? If so is the capital investment the same
    to do this work. Is the skill set the same? Any other general info on fiber
    connecting would be appreciated
    Regards,
