I recently attempted to update the DEMFA firmware on one of 6000's
to V1.4 with no luck. The 6000 is boot node of a cluster running
VMS V5.5-2. I have NDU V1.2 installed, and "installed" the image
demfa014.sys, in MOM$LOAD.
The exact sequence of steps:
o Put the console switch on the 6000 to "update"
o From DCL:
$ download show device fxa0:
(c) Digital Equipment Corporation. 1991. All Rights Reserved.
Name DEMFA
Firmware Rev V1.3
$ download load /reset/log/confirm fxa mom$load:demfa014.sys
(c) Digital Equipment Corporation. 1991. All Rights Reserved.
.
.
(hangs for 30 minutes!)
I read the 'help' page on download and entered the following
command referencing the DEMFA by address:
$ download load /reset/log/confirm 08-00-00-xx-xx-xx
mom$load:demfa014.sys
(hangs for 30 minutes)
I had thought the firmware update happened in a matter of seconds.
Is there anything obvious that I'm doing wrong ?
thanks
Here the command just hangs. I let it go for 20 minutes before
finally interrupting it. I was under the impression that the
firmware update happen in a matter of seconds.

Just an update...I have not had the opportunity to try the suggestion
in .1. I need to schedule some time after hours to do this...I'm not
too comfortable doing the firmware update during the day.

+--> Changed from fxa as
suggested
The same behavior described in the base note occured. The
command hung forever until interrupted with a ctrl-y.
Any other suggestions ? Should I reinstall NDU ?
