The following is a bit of data which I thought might be usefull to
product marketing. Due to a number of factors, the local account team
spent very little time supporting the described effort.
A customer was recently evaluating our FDDI concentrator products with
those from Synoptics. Overall, the customer rated the products equally.
The main criteria which impacted their decision to use Synoptics vs.
the Digital products was management. Synoptics commited to providing a
GUI management module for HP "Openview". This clinched the sale for
them. This customer, like many others find the plain SNMP management
interface inadequate for management.
