| 538.1 | What is your configuration? | QUIVER::P_SHORT |  | Fri Apr 17 1992 09:48 | 12 |
| |
    Patrick,

We have been trying to recreate your problem in the lab but have
    consistently gotten the expected results.

What was the exact configuration you set up? Was it as described in
the manuals? Did your configuration change when you downgraded to
V3.0B? There have been no changes in this area from V3.0B to V3.1.

    Regards,
    Pam

| | Pam,

Our FDDI ring is "on the table" since we are currently
testing all products received for our customer.
    These are :
    	4 x DECconcentrator 500
    		3 x DEFCN-AD (v.3.1) and 1 x DEFCN-AB (v.3.0B)
    	12 x DECbridge 620 (v.1.1)
    	7 x DECbridge 520 (v.1.1)

Dual Ring is based on 4 DEFCN and 5 DECbridge 520/620,
all other DECbridge 520/620 are in dual homing.

If you connect a DECbridge 520/620 in dual homing on 2 DEFCN-AD
    running 3.1
    	Port A LED on DB520/620 Flashes Green/Red
Port B LED on DB520/620 is Green ON

Port M LED on DEFCN linked with DB520/620 Port B is Green ON
Port M LED on DEFCN linked with DB520/620 Port A starts to
flash Green/Red then after 10 seconds blinks RED only

If you replace the DEFCN connected to DB520/620 Port A by the
DEFCN-AB running v.3.0B, Port M LED on DEFCN linked with DB520/620
Port A flashes Green/Red as mentioned in the DEFCN-AD installation
    guide (EK-DEFCN-IN-004).

DECmcc ELM 1.2 sees the port M of the DEFCN-AD as being standby
(not sure it's the correct word), and Dual Homing seems to work fine
since the link's disconnection between DB520/620 Port B and DEFCN
Port M correctly activates the Backup link. So, this seems to be a
    "light" problem.

    	Patrick

    Hello Patrick,

We found a DAS Bridge and tried what you have. Yes, we do see the
Port M flashing RED on the DEFCN and Port A flashing GREEN/RED on
the bridge. The Port M and Port B on the concentrator and bridge
respectively were GREEN ON. When we pulled the connection for Port M
and Port B the Port M & Port A went GREEN ON. We reconnected Port M
and Port B, those lights went GREEN ON. Port A blinked GREEN/RED for
some seconds and then blinked RED.

We are looking into this further and will keep you posted.

    Regards,
    Pam

| 538.4 | Problem  with the LED indication on the DECconcentrator | CSC32::TOBIN |  | Tue Jul 13 1993 15:11 | 11 |
| | I have a customer that is seeing the same problem with a DECconcentrator 500 when in dual home
mode. They say that the problem is related to the version of the ROM code in the concentrator.
They have concentrators that are running both 3.0B and 3.1 of the firmware. The problem
only appears on the ones with ROM version 1.0.0, and the others that are running version 0.0.0
work as they should. They seem to be working fine the problem is with the way the LESs are
acting on the concentrator. This note has seemed to die. Does anyone know if there is a fix
for this problem?
Thanks
John Tobin
